There’s a reason Martin makes strings, and proof is in the sound. Got a Martin? Use their strings. When I (finally) got my DRS-1 last year, I didn’t pay much attention to the strings it came with, fully expecting to remove them in favor of the Elixers I’ve been using on my other guitar for decades. Along with all the other goodies Martin packs with their new guitars is a tag informing what it was strung with. Mine came with these strings, and after about a week, I began to hear (almost said “see”) why I should leave them on. They are a perfect fit for…

My Favorite Strings For A Martin Dreadnought I purchased a lovely Martin D-41 guitar earlier this year. Since I’ve owned it, I have tried various strings. I play it a lot, and keep dates and notes on the cover of each box. I feel these are the best-sounding, longest-lasting strings.I have also used Martin regular Acoustic Phosphor Bronze, D-Addario EJ24, Martin Eric Clapton. These SP Lifespan Phosphor Bronze sound best on my Martin dreadnought. Of course, your playing style and tastes may vary, but I love these strings.

Great sound, BUT Warning. Great sound. Just make sure your guitar can handle medium strings. The extra tension started raising a bulge below my bridge. That also raises the action. A real shame, I loved the extra volume. I loosened the strings and let it set for a couple weeks. Bulge is going away. Ordered the same strings in Light, hope they sound as good.
